Chances are you've already got the experience you need. The Renewable Energy Industry relies on many of the same skills and experience as more traditional industries. Of course, if you do need training, Austin Community College can help.

Here's a list of occupations that translate well into Renewable Energy jobs:

Electrical (DC electronics as well as AC electricians);
Construction (roofers, construction laborers);
Plumbers (applicants may need to know fluid dynamics, pump sizing, etc.);
Mechanical skills (applicants need to have some level of knowledge about machinery and how it works);
Heavy manufacturing and assembly;
Design for manufacturing experience;
Semiconductor manufacturing; and
Electrical and mechanical engineering. ³
